wwd the magazine's top ten

Those are all really beautiful - and all clearly picked with a consistent point of view on the part of the mag - but it feels a little... obvious. Narrow. I mean, I saw a LOT of spring stuff that wasn't exquisite modern-yet-victorian/silver/white/romantic/polished/glam dresses.

And I'm not saying SMcQ's, Vera Wang's, and LV collections didn't knock me right over, because they totally did!
yeah no surprises whatsoever, besides perhaps maybe the giles, which seems a little punky for them. but i had to laugh setting those three photos next to each other above...hello, white! everything was definitely not white! like those incredible tracy reese pics you posted.
[this is good]

I remember being surprised that my friend Jeff from college ended up as a writer for WWD - at the time I wasn't aware that they were moving in on hipper demographics. Now I'm not so surprised, heh.

yeah i mean the top headline on their site today is still "Mass Retailing: Wal-Mart Rethinks Strategy in Bid to Boost Sales"...but it's quickly followed by news about Hermes, Valentino, and Viktor & Rolf's H&M frenzy. i'm almost as fascinated by the business side of fashion as i am by fashion itself, so it's fun to poke around :)
