four days and counting...
The CFDA / Vogue awards are this Thursday already! I'm dying to know who wins. In the meantime, here are the last two finalists...
The necklaces that Justin Giunta creates for his line Subversive Jewelry are wonders to behold. The one above is made from found bits of costume jewelry mixed with imitation coral. His worst fashion faux pas? "I used to accessorize my pants with safety pins as a teenager. Traveling through airports with that much metal on you is a big faux pas."
Subversive Jewelry: 2006 CFDA / Vogue Finalist
Thailand native and former Harper's Bazaar fashion editor Thakoon Panichgul is nominated for his eponymous line Thakoon. His ultimate muse(s): "There's Julie Christie in Don't Look Now, and Françoise Hardy, Mia Farrow, Jane Birkin. Modern-day examples are Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sofia Coppola, Kirsten Dunst. They all have a tomboy's sensibility mixed with femininity—done in a casual, nonchalant way." Feminine tomboy! That's me! Man, I only wish I had the style of Jane Birkin.
