from the Booksmith:
"For more than a half century, The Paris Review has been publishing what can be called indispensable reading - nowhere more apparent than in the magazine’s interviews with writers. 'The Paris Review Interviews, vol. 1' collects some of the best with the likes of Hemingway, Borges, Capote, Vonnegut, Didion and others."
I skipped the interview with Paris Review editor Philip Gourevitch last night in favor of yummy Nirvana noodles with friends and then AtmosTheatre's fantastic production Wash, Rinse, Repeat, in which Karen told more emotion through one narrowing of her eyes than some actresses can transmit in an entire performance.
Tonight I had tentative plans to hit the First Exposures book launch at SF Camerawork, and then Irving and Lemon Sun at Bottom of the Hill. But I think I'm just going to stay home and pack and spend some quality time with the kittymonsters before I leave for Africa tomorrow. I'm going to miss everyone!
The Waterboard:
Submitting yourself to torture on live TV is the new black for journalists. Watch CurrentTV 's thoughtful exploration of the use of waterboarding, then compare with Fox News and the Daily Show on the same topic.
